Launch Housing’s Melbourne Zero campaign celebrates one year anniversary in their bid to end street homelessness.
Councils across Melbourne are being called on to create lists naming every rough sleeper in their area to help end street homelessness by 2030.
Launch Housing is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its Melbourne Zero campaign, which tracks each local government area’s progress in ending homelessness and encourages “everyday people” to take action when they see someone without a roof over their heads.

The organisation has made 2030 their deadline to end street homelessness and believes this can be achieved if each municipality starts by curating these lists alongside increased social housing and support services.
Launch Housing is already working with six councils and have identified the number of people without stable lodgings in the City of Melbourne (75 people), Dandenong (35), Port Phillip (29), Yarra (24), Stonnington (17) and Frankston (16).
While Launch Housing chief officer of partnerships and engagement Howard Ralley conceded that there may be more as it was a “very transient population,” he said these were the people that they personally knew through their assertive outreach.
