Review: Alien Rainbows Vape Cart by Cannect Wellness
January 2023, I believed the number of options available at Illinois dispensaries were about to explode as craft operators built out and got online. Financial and regulatory rough seas have conspired to push most licensees towards a 2024 opening, and we are finally beginning to see a few products make it to shelves. Cannect Wellness is one of the newest brands to hit the state, so I recently stopped into Beyond/Hello Bloomington and picked up the brand’s Alien Rainbow Secret Sauce Cart to review.
The Cannect Wellness Alien Rainbows Vape Cart is filled with a distillate-based oil, infused with cannabis-derived terpenes. This vape tested at 4.725% CBD, 75.158% THC, and 88.052% total cannabinoids.
Cannect Wellness uses a classic branded window cart design with a metal core, glass tank, and ceramic mouthpiece. The oil inside was almost clear with light tones of pale yellow revealing itself in direct light. The cart worked well from beginning to end, providing small consistent hits but got noticeably hot each time I used it.
There was more depth to the flavor profile than I anticipated in a distillate-based cart. The top note on the palate was a fruit-forward blend of sweet berry, lily, currant, and melon. Each flavor seemed to blend into the next creating new and interesting notes each time I returned. No matter how many hits I chained together, no flavor changed no matter how hot the cart got.
The Alien Rainbow Vape Cart set in slower than a usual vape cart but hit much harder with a heavy full-body indica pressure and a densely clouded sense of awareness that left me introspective and quiet. The body effect slowly fell from the heavy pressure peak to an overall relaxation that subdued aches and pains for an hour or so. The strong mental cloud was remarkably sticky, and if I seshed the pen in the morning, a grogginess stuck with me for a couple hours.
