Maine: Next Medical Rulemaking Public Meeting Is Feb 2

Adult Use

Following the commencement of rulemaking to revise the Adult Use Marijuana Program (AUMP) rule last fall, the Office of Marijuana Policy (OMP) has completed provisional adoption of these regulations. They now move to the legislature for further consideration.

Medical Use

Following several productive discussions with the Medical Marijuana Workgroup convened by OMP in late 2021, the Office has begun the rulemaking process required by the Maine Administrative Procedures Act and has published a proposed rule for the Maine Medical Use of Marijuana Program (MMMP).

The public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 10:00AM EST. It will be held virtually via Zoom. Similar to public hearings hosted by the Maine Legislature, registration must occur at least 30 minutes prior to the start time to guarantee your participation.

OMP is also accepting written public comment through the end of the day on Sunday, February 13, 2022. OMP Director Erik Gundersen sent a letter to program registrants informing them of OMP’s approach to this rulemaking and how this effort differs from 2021’s proposed rules.
