MMMP Applications Updated, Trip Ticket Form Introduced
OMP recently completed revisions and updates to all Maine Medical Use of Marijuana Program (MMMP) applications. These revisions focused on correcting outdated program information and updating their layout and style to be consistent with other OMP applications and forms. Please replace any old copies of these materials you may have with the current versions.

In addition, we have introduced OMP-issued trip tickets for the first time. Since the establishment of the OMP in February 2019, trip ticket forms have been one of the most frequent requests made by program registrants. Earlier today, Director Erik Gundersen sent a letter to MMMP registrants which, among other things, announced their introduction.

Today, OMP issued 29 new adult use conditional licenses. These licenses are comprised of 12 marijuana stores, 12 cultivation facilities, and five products manufacturing facilities.

Since March, OMP has issued a total of 128 new conditional licenses to establishments seeking to participate in Maine’s adult use industry.

Adult Use Track and Trace Training Now Ongoing
OMP and Metrc are pleased to announce that they have scheduled new business training opportunities for conditional adult use licensees and their employees. The use of the state’s track and trace portal is mandatory for adult use licensees in Maine, and each establishment is required designate a Metrc administrator during the licensing process.

Effective Tuesday, June 2, 2020, Metrc has begun hosting webinar-based training classes for Maine-based licensees. Training classes will occur three times a week and continue for the foreseeable future. The classes are instructor-led and provide a thorough overview of the core functionality of the Metrc system.

Training classes will be offered on the following days and times:

  • Tuesdays at 1PM
  • Wednesdays at 9AM
  • Fridays at 10AM

All times are Eastern Daylight Time. Training classes for more advanced users of the Metrc system will be made available in the near future.

Training and the successful completion of a comprehension examination is required for all designated track and trace administrators. OMP and Metrc strongly recommended that any employee planning to operate in the Metrc system take the new business training course to ensure they uniformly and accurately utilize the system.

Training is available through the Metrc website at: https://www.metrc.com/maine. The link to register appears below OMP’s logo as “Schedule Training Now”. In order to register for training, stakeholders must hold a valid OMP-issued Individual Identification Card and be associated with an establishment that has obtained a conditional license.

Who needs to take complete the training?
An adult use establishment’s track and trace administrator. All other employees are optional.

What do I need to provide to register?
To sign up for the new business training course, the following information MUST be provided:

  • Name of Trainee
  • Individual Identification Card (IIC) Number
  • Email (business)
  • Phone Number
  • Business Name
  • Adult Use Establishment Conditional License Number

How much does training cost?
There is no up-front fee for the training courses. Once Metrc production credentials are issued, adult use establishments will begin paying their $40 a month license fee to Metrc. This monthly fee includes unlimited training and support from Metrc.

When will production credentials be issued?
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, OMP has indefinitely postponed the launch of adult use marijuana in Maine. To minimize cost to licensees, Metrc production credentials—and the corresponding monthly fee—will not be issued until just before the launch of this new program.

What about medical track and trace?
This training opportunity is available exclusively to the adult use program. Additional information on the deployment of Metrc to Maine’s existing medical marijuana program and the obligations of registered caregivers, dispensaries, marijuana testing facilities and manufacturing facilities will be announced at a later date.
