Vape Cartridges — Pure Extracts Defined

When I first started smoking cannabis vapes, I had no idea what the differences between different extraction processes meant. And because of this, I couldn’t fully enjoy cannabis cartridges. So please don’t make my mistakes; grab a joint and get comfortable. We’ll be breaking down the definition of a pure extract and how it affects you.

About Vape Cartridges

Vape carts are glass cartridges pre-filled with a set amount of cannabis oil. This oil contains various combinations of cannabinoids and terpenes extracted from cannabis. The goal of a full-spectrum extract is to maintain the complex range of wanted compounds in a cannabis plant without changing them through decarboxylation or oxidation. A pure extract vape cart earns its label by being, as the name implies – pure. It is the distillate of the cannabis plant with no additives or changes.

Many different kinds of vape carts exist, some with flavour additives and various oil/resins; on a personal note, I prefer the full-spectrum pure extracts like we have been defining.

What’s the deal with full-spectrum?

Most consider full-spectrum to be the best of the best as it relates to cannabis oil, and the price often reflects its high quality. In full-spectrum, all of the molecules in a cannabis strain are contained — hence the high regard. This means that the original strain remains untouched. The result is a cannabis oil with the most natural taste, aroma, and effect. If you do not mind spending more for the best type of pre-filled cannabis cartridge possible, then the full-spectrum oil is the right solution for you.

Why Pure Extract Vape Carts are better?

When smoking vape carts that are not pure extract, I find myself with a weed/chemical hangover the next day, a headache and always wind up slightly dehydrated. Why this is, I cannot say, and every person will experience everything differently. I thought that was just what happened with vaping cannabis for the longest time and did not explore it too deeply. Thankfully the budtender at Green Mountain Cannabis was able to help me find a tremendous pure extract, explain the difference, and find a way for me to enjoy the world of cannabis carts.

You’ll know immediately if a vape cartridge is a pure extract cart after tasting it or pulling off the vape. Pure extract vape cartridges do not have any additional flavours or additives, so you should taste cannabis and cannabis only.
