Progress - Construction Update May 2020

Another month has passed and we have begun to make some serious progress on construction of the new campus. Since our last update many construction milestones have been achieved and the project is moving along very nicely, our expectations remain to open this summer! We are extremely excited about the progress and cannot wait to open the doors to the public.

In the last month we have seen the building transition from its old structure to one we have designed and optimized for our patients and community. The existing interior walls were removed, and new walls were framed to accommodate our businesses and vision we have for the community. As of this week, the drywall will be hung and ready for a clean fresh coat of paint. The hanging of drywall marks an important milestone for this or any construction project. At this point the building has taken its shape and feel. Although this is a major milestone there is still plenty of work to be done. If you think about any building or room you walk into, there are three main components that comprise a space; the walls, the floors and the ceiling. Everything else in the space is built upon or in relation to these three things.

One thing is for sure, the lighting and ceiling at 400 Snow Hill RD is out of date and could use a serious makeover. Lighting is one of the most critical pieces of any space and being a former electrician, I do get excited about lighting and the effect that proper lighting can have on a space. In the new campus we have elected to use 2x2 lay in LED lights in the ceiling grid which will provide maximum coverage, efficiency and a much cleaner and modern look. We also plan on utilizing some specialty lighting to highlight displays and other reference material we feel is important.

After the ceiling grid and lighting is installed its time for the floors! Both the front and rear lobbies were updated with a beautiful tile before we moved in and that tile will remain in both lobbies. Since this will be the long term home for our businesses, durability with a floor is a huge priority for us. Hundreds of people will pass through our doors each day and the floors we choose must be able to stand the test of time. The flooring in the majority of the building will be and engineered vinyl plank that will speak to not only our style and culture but that of the Eastern shore as well. It will be durable enough to withstand the traffic but also visually appeasing.

There are three consultation offices on the first floor. One inside the PAH dispensary that will allow those patients a private consultation area away from the sales floor, and two large consultation offices inside the Peninsula Wellness space. These two ground floor offices are for non-cannabis patients to consult with our professionals on CBD, and any other matter of holistic health and wellness. All three of these offices will be constructed very similar to other professional medical offices and will include carpet for a comfortable setting to discuss health and wellness issues.

Once the ceiling, lights and floors are installed in the coming weeks we will begin to add our final touches to the space. We have begun to build our checkout stations inside the dispensary and are in the process of selecting furniture and fixtures, finalizing locations of information boards, and digital menus amongst a host of other things. Please continue to follow our progress and we hope you are looking forward to the new campus as much as we are!
