As the cannabis revolution continues to sweep the world, the wonders of CBD are becoming common knowledge. The second most abundant cannabinoid in the a cannabis plant, CBD has a long and growing list of potential medical applications. To such an extent that millions have already swapped their traditional pharmaceuticals for this high-power, low-risk organic alternative.

It’s difficult to overstate just how effective and versatile quality CBD concentrates can be. Research has linked CBD with the successful treatment of many chronic conditions and diseases such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Chron’s Disease
  • Glaucoma
  • AIDS and HIV
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Cancer
  • Muscle Spasms
  • PTSD

Growing demand for CBD has resulted in the development and release of thousands of new-generation of products from hundreds of brands worldwide.  The problem being that not all CBD concentrates and extracts are of the same high-quality standard.

If considering buying CBD oil for therapeutic purposes, it simply makes sense to be mindful and proactive. The last thing you want is to put your time, money and faith into something that delivers nothing positive in return.

So with this in mind, what follows is a brief introduction to the five most important rules to follow when buying CBD oil:

1.  Focus on quality over affordability

First and foremost, it’s important to acknowledge the fact that you almost always get what you pay for. There are notable exceptions to the rule, but it’s nonetheless rare to find premium-quality CBD being sold for pennies. It’s sometimes difficult to resist a bargain, but cutting corners on quality to save money is a recipe for disappointment.

Given the enormous demand for CBD products worldwide, it’s inevitable that the sellers at all levels will do whatever it takes to capitalise on it. In some circles, this means selling low-grade products of no therapeutic value whatsoever to unsuspecting customers in need. Manufacturing premium CBD products is a time-consuming and expensive process. Something that’s almost always reflected in the price of the final product.

If the CBD oil you’re looking at is practically being given away, this says all that needs to be said about its quality.

2.  Check the product’s CBD and THC content

For obvious reasons, you want to pay close attention to exactly how much CBD and THC are in the product. Concentrations of both vary exponentially from one product to the next. If it’s the therapeutic properties of CBD you’re interested in, it makes sense to opt for a product with a decent CBD content.

Try to ignore any claims of ‘Double Potency CBD’ or ‘Ultra Strength CBD’ as all such claims are relative. Double-potency CBD to one manufacturer could be considerably less than base-level CBD to another.

Instead, check exactly how much CBD and THC are in the product per dose and per 100ml or ounce. And it’s worth remembering that if the product you purchase has more than a trace amount of THC, over-consumption could lead to a mild yet notable psychoactive effect.

3.  Do your homework

There are two types of research you need to do prior to placing your order. The first of which being the reason you’re in search of a CBD product in the first place. While there’s an extensive list of conditions and diseases CBD can be used to effectively treat, there are also various ailments it will have no specific impact on. So it’s worth finding out whether CBD represents a viable treatment for the issues and symptoms you’re dealing with.

Secondly, the quickest and easiest way to determine the quality and effectiveness of a CBD oil is to see what past and present customers have to say about it. Not to mention, independent experts willing to share their thoughts.  Get yourself online and track down a bunch of reviews and ratings, in order to gauge the consensus about any given product. It should be pretty easy to see at a glance whether or not it’s the product for you.

4.  Have realistic expectations

CBD is by no means a miracle ‘cure’ for any specific disease or condition.  Evidence suggests CBD can effectively treat the symptoms of a wide variety of chronic health complaints, but is far from a silver-bullet solution to disease and suffering as a whole.  When looking to buy a batch of CBD oil, therefore, you need to gauge your expectations accordingly.

If you expect just a few doses of CBD oil to radically transform every aspect of your existence, you’re in for a disappointment. If you attempt to use CBD to treat a condition it isn’t compatible with, the same applies. Having realistic expectations is important, as while CBD oil has an extensive range of applications, it isn’t necessarily a ‘cure’ for anything.

What’s more, CBD affects each and every user in a unique way. So while CBD oil can be used to effectively treat a certain condition in one person, it may not have the same impact on another case.

5.  Speak to your doctor

Last but not least, consulting with a medical expert before self-medicating with CBD oil is advisable. The reason being that just because CBD is considered safe with next to no risk of detrimental side-effects doesn’t mean it’s the ideal treatment for everyone. Depending on your condition and requirements, there may be more effective treatments available than CBD oil.

Of course, you’ll need to ensure you speak to a doctor who’s happy to advocate cannabis-based medicines where appropriate. As opposed to a hardline critic, for whom the idea of supporting medical cannabis is unthinkable.

Seek independent and honest advice where possible, before getting started on a course of CBD-based treatment for any condition or complaint.
