I recently sampled a gram of the Wildfred Root Beer MAC, as part of the sativa flower Illinois High Times Magazine People’s Choice Cannabis Cup kit, picked up from Rise Mundelein. I usually snicker when I see celebrity endorsed cannabis labels. Outside of the rare exceptions, such as Snoop or Willie Nelson, it’s hard to argue that celebrities are bringing a lot to the industry.

After a successful 420 Sesh Fest in April, Green Rose River North dispensary is scheduled to host another cannabis-friendly event. To celebrate Labor Day Weekend, Green Rose is set to host Weekend Sesh Sunday, Sept. 3. The Weekend Sesh is scheduled for 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at Green Rose North, located at 612 North Wells Street in Chicago. The event will host DJs, food trucks, demos, pop-up sales from Illinois’ cannabis brands, a Puff Bus, special Labor Day weekend sales, and other activities.

The Miracle In Mundelein is an outdoor two-day concert event in which on-site cannabis consumption will be allowed. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has recommended reclassifying cannabis to Schedule III, or a lower-risk drug. Currently, cannabis is considered Schedule I under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. This places it in the same category as heroin. Schedule I drugs don’t have medical value and have a high potential for abuse.
