4 Benefits of Eating Cannabis Edibles

What’s your favorite way of consuming marijuana? There are many options out there. Vaping, smoking, using tinctures, and eating cannabis capsules all have their advantages and disadvantages. However, there are some benefits you can only get from cannabis edibles.

1 – Nutrition

Before we start, it should be pointed out that edibles don’t have to get you high. Unless you age or decarboxylate your weed, the THC in it won’t be active when ingested. That allows you to reap the health benefits of consuming the plant without getting stoned.

And there is a lot of nutritional value to be found in cannabis. Like most leafy green foods, cannabis is rich in nutrients. In this case, iron, calcium, vitamin K, vitamin C, and folate. On top of it, the leaves are also rich in antioxidants, and the CBD found within can help relieve pain and induce sleep.

2 – Health

Smoking and vaping weed do have their benefits. Chief among them is expediency: vaping weed is one of the fastest and most effective ways to get high. However, sending any sort of smoke or vapor into your lungs carries with it health concerns. Combustion generates carbon monoxide, which can significantly damage your health. And while the harmful effects of vaping are still being studied, the consensus today seems to be that the practice is not as safe as it was once thought.

Edibles, however, are perfectly healthy and safe. The biggest risk here is not the weed itself, but the sugar found in a lot of delicious weed treats. If you are going to be eating edibles regularly, consider using something healthy as your raw material, such as dark bitter chocolate or sugar-free gummies.

3 – Duration

Edibles can take anywhere between thirty minutes and one hour to kick in, depending on different factors. The time delay happens because the food needs to start being digested for the THC to reach your bloodstream.

On the other hand, edibles can also last a lot longer. As the food continues to be digested, more and more THC reaches your bloodstream, effectively redosing you throughout the digestion process. Thanks to that, an edible can get you high for as long as six hours, and it’s one of the easiest ways to stay high for long periods of time. Edibles can also be made very potent, which is helpful if you have been smoking weed for a while and feel that you might be building resistance to THC.

4 – Sleep

Marijuana has a lot of applications as a sleep aid. One of them is helping people sleep more peacefully while experiencing fewer dreams.  This is great for people who suffer from PTSD and other anxiety disorders, as these may impair sleep and cause recurring nightmares.

However, if you smoke weed before going to bed, the effects will wear off in the middle of the night. If you want something that will stay active the entire night, edibles are the way to go. As mentioned above, edibles last longer.

If you want something more targeted towards sleep and relaxation, consider making edibles out of CBD. Check out this Cibdol guide to learn more including how long CBD stays in your system.
