COVID vaccines began their roll out with a little rough media coverage, having caused 929 total deaths and 492 cases of COVID-19 in the USA, according to CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS.) So, will the COVID vaccines be affected by cannabis use?

It is now known that antibiotics can lower the flu vaccine’s efficiency according to a landmark study published in Cell (1, 2.) But can cannabis consumers keep toking right up to and after the COVID vaccine?

That question is far harder to answer since positive results were predominantly proven based on antibody responses in healthy subjects. Furthermore, the flu vaccine is different than Moderna or Pfizer’s genetic immunizations. So, cannabis may not have a synonymous reaction with different types of COVID vaccines.

Types of COVID vaccines

A few types of COVID vaccines and interventions

  • Genetic â€“ This new form of jab uses engineered RNA-like bits of data known as synthetic oligonucleotides, branded as “synthetic mRNA.” These data bits upload a code into the host’s genome. The upload forces the body to produce its own pieces of coronavirus protein. This activates a generic antibody response, displacing IgE as a side effect. (3-7)
  • Viral Vector â€“ For its COVID vaccine, AstraZeneca has employed the use of HEK293 immortal cells to grow a virus related to HIV. This virus is then impregnated with Sars-Cov2 spike protein DNA. This engineered intruder forces the body to replicate new RNA that can build an appropriate immune response. (8, 9)
  • Attenuated or Inactivated – The flu vaccine is a common example of a ‘live-attenuated’ or ‘inactivated’ immunization. These use a complete virus that is typically rendered non-infectious by chemical sterilization. On the downside, they take a long-time to develop. (4, 10)

Forest Ray, Ph.D., stated in Cystic Fibrosis News that Moderna employs more specific gene-editing endonucleases proteins in their other gene therapies. (6) And, Cas9 mRNA is now the most famous of those proteins. Moderna’s Covid vaccine patents do cite an article titled, “RNA – guided human genome engineering via Cas9,” Mali et al. which was published in Science Journal by AAAS in 2013. (US 10,064,959 B2) Despite this controversial treatment, Covid vaccines have been affected by far less regulatory loops than cannabis did during prohibition.

Approval processes

Shockingly, the White House Chief of Staff effectively threatened the FDA Chief into approving Pfizer/BioNTech’s mRNA treatment (11.) It was approved for Emergency Use hours after the FDA Chief’s career was put at stake. Emergency Use allows for the use of an unapproved product – it is not a formal review and approval. (12, 13.) Consider the fact that an FDA regulator born in British Columbia, Canada, Kelsey Frances, is regarded as a hero after she banned Thalidomide from entering USA markets in 1960.

Thalidomide is an immunoregulator drug, with the ability to act on SPALL4 and also spike T cells. This drug tragically caused severe fetal deformities in over 10,000 babies in the late ’50s. This happened due to its improper use as a morning sickness drug in several countries. But, thalidomide is far different than Covid vaccines or mRNA therapy (14.)

Adding to controversy, COVID vaccines are (as of Feb 14, 2020) strongly recommended for pregnant and lactating women according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) (15.) Their advice goes against the advisement of many other health authorities (16.) As an extreme political example, Brazil’s President Bolsonaro has made noteworthy statements about COVID vaccines according to the AFP (17.) So, do his remarks still seem radical with the context of Thalidomide’s continued devastation in his country – in this millennium (18-20.)

Is a vaccine a drug?

Cannabis and COVID vaccines can both prevent symptoms by affecting antibodies. Despite this, scientists are busy answering if mRNA jabs are truly immunizations (22,) rather than immunoregulator drugs. Immunization should facilitate immunity to a disease. But, COVID vaccines do not prevent viral shedding and transmission of SARS-COV2 according to a study published in The Lancet and The New England Journal Of Medicine (NEJM). (22, 23.)

Vaccine development focused on the antibody known as IgG to detect symptom reduction, NEJM. (24) In contradiction to this targeted response, the virus expresses to antibodies IgM<IgA1, but IgG3 only in severe cases. (25-27.) This means the vaccine produces the same protection to the virus as a healthy microbiome. (28)

In summary, mRNA vaccines will trigger an event likewise to an autoimmune disease that helps turn on the cell-division (cancer) switch, in parallel with a discovery published in Science Journal in January, 2021. (10, 29, 30) This is because COVID-19 therapies must agonize CD+ T cells, which no vaccine could do before 2020. (31, 32)

Third lead cause of death versus cannabis

It was medical errors that took third for the leading cause of death in the United States from 2007 to 2013, unofficially ahead of COPD according to John Hopkins. (33)

Despite a lack of research on the topic, COVID vaccines most likely depend on the endocannabinoid system for a proper immune response. However, cannabis strains or products high in caryophyllene can reduce the vaccine’s efficiency (affinity) but can help your body fight against COVID more intelligently (efficacy.) Unlike pharmaceuticals, however, doctors unfortunately possess limited knowledge of cannabis’s drug reactions since those side effects are only slightly more actualized than the North American House Hippo. On the contrary, doctors tend to turn a blind eye to the medicinal properties of cannabis outside of niche circumstances.

Cross-reactions

You can basically do anything with synthetic mRNA…it’s like a computer program. You can even turn someone into a freaking butterfly with the right DNA sequence.

Oglionucluetide Therapeutics Society (OTS) released a study written by Petra Disterer, Ph.D. in 2017 that laminated a risk for cross-infection from viral vector vaccines. (4) This has now been realized as an increased risk of HIV in the Oxford/Astrazeneca’s vaccine. A study in the Lancet highlighted this risk. (9) However, Disterer, Ph.D. put a greater emphasis of concern on a largely ignored risk for cross-reactivity from mRNA vaccines due to rouge antibody production. They used the relationship between Dengue Fever and Zika Virus as an example.

Now, those cross-reactions have shown up as allergic reactions (dysregulated IgE) in Covid vaccines, NEJM. (35) Bells’ Palsey might fit this causative link given the accuracy of this writing author’s untested hypothesis. It is as follows: a dormant strain of the HPV virus could no longer be kept dormant once the antibody response (epigenome) was altered in individuals with a hypo-IgG, or hyper-IgM, antibody response (SAD). (36, 37) In summary, it is unlikely, but currently unknown, if cannabis can trigger similar cross-reactions and affect Covid vaccines.
