Start slow

The best advice when new to using edibles is to take it slow, be patient, and find your dose.

Typically we would advise to start with either 2.5mg, or at most 5mg. If you’re not a regular marijuana smoker or consumer, 5mg is likely to give you a nice, mellow high.

You may find after this that you want something stronger. Slowly increase the dose – going to 10mg, then 12mg, then 15mg, then 20mg and so on until you find your sweet spot.

For most daily marijuana consumers, 20mg seems to be the sweet spot for a solid high. However, those who like a stronger experience may go as high as 50mg. It’s all personal.

Which edibles effect you the fastest?

Most edibles have the same effects in terms of how quickly they effect you and how long they last.

Typically:

  • You begin to feel edibles around 30 to 45 minutes after consumption
  • You feel the full effects after 60 – 120 minutes
  • The effects last 4 to 6 hours

The variation in this are tinctures. These:

  • Have a quicker onset – around 20 to 40 minutes
  • The full effects are felt in around an hour or less
  • The full effects last 2 to 4 hours

Which products stay in your system longer?

All marijuana edibles will stay in your system for roughly the same amount of time. However, higher doses may last longer than small doses.

Typically marijuana is out of the system in 24 – 72 hours for those who don’t consume it often, a 5 days to a week for occasional consumers and up to a month for daily consumers.
