CO: Denver grower issues statewide recall over high mold and yeast levels

Cannabis growers Bonsai Cultivation has recalled marijuana from stores all over the city and state because of excessively high yeast and mold counts, the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment announced Monday.

Consumers who bought Bonsai brand flower, shake, trim, and pre-rolls (spliffs, joints, blunts) between April 30 and Oct. 14 could be affected.

“DDPHE opened an investigation after identifying multiple samples of marijuana plant material had failed total yeast and mold sampling from multiple retail store locations,” the public health department said in a statement. “DDPHE is investigating this issue and overseeing the recall process to remove potentially contaminated products from commercial circulation.”

The public health department said that health impacts depend on the product, duration and frequency of use, and level of exposure.

Stores and consumers should throw the Bonsai products away or return them to the store, DDPHE officials said.

The following retail stores, cultivation facilities and manufacturing facilities in Denver may be affected:

2251 SB LLC, Affinity, Alchemy Food Co., Altitude East, Buddy Boy (all five locations), Clear Group Colorado, Clearview Industries, Colorado Harvest Co., Denver Clone Store, Doctors Orders, El Jefe, Euflora (Brighton Boulevard and 16th Street), Golden Leaf, HCH Labs, JvJc Holdings (Washington Street and 7th Avenue), Karmaceuticals, Laughing Grass, LiveWell (Franklin Street, Pearl Street, Broadway, Larimer Street, Evans Avenue, Oneida, Lodo Wellness Center, Lucy Sky Cannabis Boutique, Mary Jane’s House, Mile High Dispensary, Northern Lights Cannabis Co., Oasis Cannabis Superstore (44th Avenue and Evans Avenue), Organa Labs, Pig N Whistle, Platte Valley Dispensary, Rino Supply Co., Solace Meds Broadway, Solace Meds Colfax, Starbuds (Evans Avenue and Cortez Street), Sweet Grass Kitchen, The Clinic Highlands, The Clinic on Colfax, The Clinic on Colorado, The DAB by Next Harvest, The Farmers Market, The Giving Tree of Denver, the Herbal Cure and Urban Dispensary.
