There’s a reason why everybody loves Fridays. For some, it signifies the start of the weekend. For us, it means a whole new wave of new music. This week features music leaning more toward the EDM side of the spectrum including tracks from Zedd, Marshmello, Major Lazer, and Rico Nasty.
Inside Out – Zedd, Griff
Zedd exemplifies his ability to create around a vocalist on this track. Griff’s smooth R&B vocals are paired beautifully with some trap drums to creating the trending hip-hop sound. During the break and the build, he layers Griff’s vocals creating a vocal focused dynamic section followed by his bright and big EDM drop. Once again, Zedd shows why he is one of EDM’s top commercial DJs.
Too Much (ft. Usher) – Marshmello, Imanbek
Although a Marshmello and Imanbek collaboration was bound to happen, no one would have expected to get multi-talented artist Usher to hop on the track. The three of them are able to come together and create a club track through the house genre which gives Usher’s stunning vocals an opportunity to shine.
Hell and High Water (ft. Alessia Cara) – Major Lazer
After 5 years long, Major Lazer is back with their much-anticipated project ‘Music is the Weapon’. The song ‘Hell and High Water’ really stands out for both the instrumentation and the feature, Alessia Cara. Cara’s ability to control her voice allows Major Lazer to create a track that sounds like there are multiple versions of herself singing. Her voice is mellow yet energetic. This song will be sure to have you wanting to listen to the rest of the project.
Don’t Like Me (Feat. Don Toliver and Gucci Mane) – Rico Nasty
Rico Nasty switches up her style on this track. Her usual high energy and raspy flows are replaced with some low key, pleasant melodic verses. Her new approach really compliments the stylings of Gucci Mane and Don Toliver, who also hit the track with smooth verses. This track really shows the diversity that Nasty is able to exemplify and could be a breakthrough for her in the hip hop scene.
